Location: Latitude N: 39.82929
Longitude W: 119.35696
Elevation: 3884 ft.
Washoe County, NV, near SR 447, Nixon, NV 89424
Equipment: A YSI 6920 multiparameter water quality sonde is used to obtain temperature, specific conductance, pH, dissolved oxygen, salinity, tds, and turbidity.
A 18"x12" kicknet, 500 micron mesh, is used to collect benthic macroinvertebrates.
A densiometer is used to get an estimate for canopy cover along the 500 meter reach.
Period of Record: 1999 to present

The Tribe's Physical Habitat & Bioassessment monitoring program began on the lower Truckee River in 1989. Physical Habitat & Bioassessments are conducted annually at eleven locations on the lower Truckee River, usually during base flows (end of August). Physical Habitat assessments are conducted within a 20 x 500 meters reach of the river. Water samples, in situ stream measurements, and benthic macroinvertebrates are collected at the mid point of the reach following protocols in the Tribe's 2007 Quality Assurance Project Plan.(7.4 Mb PDF file)
