Location: Lower Nugent Canyon creek:
Latitude N:40.16030
Longitude W: 119.40611
Elevation: 4611 ft.
Lake Range, Washoe County,NV
Equipment: 1). A YSI 6920 multiparameter water quality sonde is used to obtain temperature, specific conductivity, pH, dissolved oxygen, salinity, tds, and turbidity during the sampling event.
2). A 18"x12" kicknet, 500 micron mesh, is used to collect benthic macroinvertebrates at 3 sites.
3). A densiometer is used to obtain an estimate of canopy cover (%) along a 150 meter reach.
Period of Record: 2004, 2007 to present.
Physical Habitat & Bioassessment monitoring began in 2004 within the Nugent Canyon watershed. Physical Habitat & Bioassessments are conducted annually during the month of April or May, depending on flows. Physical Habitat assessments are conducted within a 150 meter reach of the river. Water samples, in situ stream measurements, and benthic macroinvertebrates are collected at the mid point of the reach following protocols in the Tribe's 2007 Quality Assurance Project Plan.(7.4 Mb PDF file)
